Faculty of Sharia UIN Madura to Hold the 3rd International Conference on Islamic Law and Civilization (ICILAC)

Pamekasan – The Faculty of Sharia at UIN Madura is set to host The 3rd International Conference on Islamic Law and Civilization (ICILAC), an esteemed academic forum focusing on contemporary developments in Islamic law and global civilization. This year's conference carries the central theme: “Islamic Law and Artificial Intelligence: Ethics, Tradition and The Future of Islamic Law (Fiqh) Civilization.”
The conference will be held on: Thursday, 20 November 2025 in Auditorium of UIN Madura
The chosen theme reflects the growing scholarly attention on artificial intelligence (AI) and its profound implications for ethics, tradition, and the future trajectory of Islamic legal civilization. Through ICILAC 2025, the Faculty of Sharia aims to strengthen its academic contribution in addressing modern technological challenges while remaining rooted in the rich tradition of Islamic scholarship.
As a concrete outcome of international academic cooperation, this year’s ICILAC proudly presents three keynote speakers from three different countries, namely:
- Prof. Dr. Abdelmalek Aouich, Dean, Faculty of Sharia, Université Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah, Fez, Morocco
- Prof. Dr. H. Abu Yasid, M.A., LL.M., Professor at the State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya and Rector of UNIB Situbondo, Indonesia
- Ass. Professor Dr. Muntaha Artalim Zaim, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Malaysia
The Dean of the Faculty of Sharia, Prof. Dr. Hj. Siti Musawwamah, M. Hum., expressed her profound hope that this international forum will contribute positively to the advancement of fiqh civilization in the era of artificial intelligence, particularly in shaping ethical frameworks and new directions for Islamic legal studies amidst rapid technological change.
ICILAC 2025 is expected to serve as a strategic platform for academics, researchers, practitioners, and students to explore contemporary developments in fiqh, examine the ethical implications of AI, and discuss the future prospects of Islamic legal civilization in the digital age.
With the convening of the 3rd ICILAC, the Faculty of Sharia at UIN Madura reaffirms its commitment to strengthening global research collaboration, expanding international academic networks, and advancing scholarly contributions aligned with the evolving challenges of the modern world.
