Pamekasan, 20 November 2025 – The Faculty of Sharia at UIN Madura officially held The 3rd International Conference on Islamic Law and Civilization (ICILAC) today at the Auditorium of UIN Madura. This year’s conference carries the central theme:

“Islamic Law and Artificial Intelligence: Ethics, Tradition and The Future of Islamic Law (Fiqh) Civilization.”

The event was formally opened by the Rector of UIN Madura, Dr. H. Saiful Hadi, M. Pd., who emphasized the importance of strengthening UIN Madura’s academic contribution at the international level, especially in addressing the intersection of Islamic law and the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence (AI). He expressed his appreciation to the Faculty of Sharia for consistently organizing an international-scale academic forum that brings together scholars from various countries.

ICILAC 3 was attended by hundreds of participants from both Indonesia and abroad, comprising academics, researchers, practitioners, and students. The conference reflects growing global interest in discussing contemporary issues surrounding fiqh, ethics, digital transformation, and the future of Islamic legal civilization.

This year’s conference features three distinguished keynote speakers from three different countries, namely:

  1. Prof. Dr. Abdelmalek Aouich
    Dean, Faculty of Sharia, Université Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah, Fez, Morocco
  2. Prof. Dr. H. Abu Yasid, M.A., LL.M.
    Professor at State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya & Rector of UNIB Situbondo, Indonesia
  3. Ass. Professor Dr. Muntaha Artalim Zaim
    International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Malaysia

Dean of the Faculty of Sharia, Prof. Dr. Hj. Siti Musawwamah, M. Hum., expressed her hope that this international conference will contribute positively to the advancement of fiqh civilization in the era of artificial intelligence, especially in shaping ethical foundations and intellectual directions for Islamic legal studies in a technologically accelerated world.

Throughout the sessions, participants engaged in insightful presentations and panel discussions exploring key issues related to AI ethics, contemporary fiqh development, and the future of Islamic legal civilization. The strong enthusiasm demonstrated by participants highlights the urgency of addressing how AI will shape the evolving landscape of Islamic jurisprudence.

 

The successful implementation of ICILAC 3 reaffirms UIN Madura’s commitment to strengthening global research collaboration, expanding international academic networks, and advancing scholarly contributions within the field of Islamic law and civilization studies.
